Eco-School Silver Award
The Eco-School committee proudly displaying their Silver Award! This was received in recognition of the responsible environmental management and eco-transformation that has been sustained in the school during 2010. We now have our sights set on a Gold Award at the end of 2011.
Our school registered as part of the Eco-School programme
in 2009. This means that we have made a commitment as a school to continously improve our environmental attitude by working towards deeper, better, more meaningful environmental learning and
responsible environmental management that will result in whole-school development and will bring about positive environmental change.
ECO-SCHOOL PROGRAMME 2011
In our third year of participation, we are required to adopt a new theme. This year our new focus will be on Healthy Living, while continuing to sustain our existing themes.
HEALTHY LIVING
This focuses on healthy eating habits which support a healthy body and healthy mind; road safety; and organic growing;
NATURE AND BIODIVERSITY
We continue to remove alien vegetation and establish indigenous gardens throughout our school in order to encourage ‘nature’ back to our grounds – we are going “batty about birds, bees and butterflies”!
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
By now, recycling should have become an eco-friendly habit in most households – we continue with our recycling routine and adjust our focus towards alternative energy sources and electricity economisation.
